Cut the Market Data Licenses You Don’t Use
We review your contracts and measure how every subscription is really used. Then we tell you which seats to keep, cancel, downgrade or replace, timed to your renewal. And we help you make the changes.
Why Market Data Costs Get Out of Hand
High Costs
Most financial firms pay more than they need to for market data from vendors like Bloomberg. The usual reasons:
- Subscription tiers that don’t match the features people use
- Paying for seats that are unused or doubled up
- Giving everyone the same package, whatever they need
- Costs that keep going up every year
- Splitting market data costs by portfolio size instead of real use
Compliance Risks
When nobody knows what market data really costs, it’s hard to know what to charge clients for it. That leads to risks like these:
- Charging the wrong costs to client portfolios
- Damaged client relationships
- Trouble with regulators when fees are based on where trades come from
Management Problems
Most firms can’t see how their market data subscriptions are used. The main problems:
- No clear view of who uses what, so it’s hard to cut anything
- Teams buying their own subscriptions in different places
- Subscriptions that spread, double up and get managed in pieces
- Vendor contracts that are hard to make sense of

FAQs
What do I get from a WatchPoint Finance engagement?
After we review your contracts and how your company uses its market data, you get a Financial Market Data Management Report. It shows which subscriptions to keep, which to change, and which to replace with a cheaper option. We advise you on how to make each change, and we stay with you until the savings are real.
Will our teams lose access to the market data they need?
No. We have two goals. The first is to cut what you pay. The second is to keep your data quality the same. Nothing we recommend will stop your teams getting the data they use.
How long does it take?
There are two parts. The contract review takes 2-3 weeks. We go through your vendor contracts, license counts, renewal dates and notice periods. The usage review typically takes 1-2 months. We put our tools on the systems where licenses are used and see how they are really used. Then you get our report and recommendations.
How quickly will I see savings?
Savings arrive when licenses come off your contract, which is usually at renewal. That’s why timing matters. We review your usage before your renewal date, so you have the evidence when it counts. Ideally, talk to us at least 90 days before. Once a license is cut, the saving repeats every year.
What about the contracts we already have?
Our team has worked with market data vendors and their contracts for years. We’ll advise you on how to cut your spend within the contracts you have. We map your renewal dates and notice periods, so each change happens at the earliest point it can.
How much will this disrupt our day-to-day work?
Very little. We work with your IT team to set up our tools, and from there they run on their own. Your people keep working as normal the whole time.
Is our data secure?
Yes. We use the latest data privacy and security practices, and we have years of experience working inside banks and other financial firms. We can sign NDAs, and we never share your information with anyone without your permission.
Why use a consultant instead of asking the vendor?
Two reasons:
- We are independent. Market data vendors offer their own usage reviews, but they are not neutral. We are not tied to any vendor, so our only goal is the right mix of subscriptions for you.
- Our advice is based on measured usage, not on surveys or guesses.
Can you help us choose vendors and move between them?
Yes. We help with every part of market data vendor management. That includes finding cheaper options, helping you move, cutting down the number of vendors you use, and getting better contract terms.
How does this help with compliance?
Our review shows whether your market data use matches the terms you have with your clients. We point out any risks, so you can fix them or reduce them.
